David Chris Eskestrand was born on April 2, 1948, in Portland, Oregon,
to Chris and Lenore (Dahl) Eskestrand. Subsequently, the family moved to
Northern California where he grew up on a chicken farm around a
multitude of animals. During this time, he enjoyed camping with the
family in the mountains and Redwood groves. While he was in high school
the family moved to Colorado and he graduated from Wheat Ridge High
School in 1965. Dave attended Northern Colorado University, CU Boulder,
and Metro State before settling in Denver.
Dave married Patti Schaner in 1980, they started a family but later
divorced. Dave was a masonry contractor from 1977 to 2000 and after that
undertook property management of his own real estate and the property of
others. While Dave slowed his work down, he never formally retired. Dave
married Jing Li (Jenny) in 2010 and they welcomed their son, Erik, in
2013. Dave was actively involved in, and a supporter of, People House in
Denver, an organization which provides holistic mental health services
and spirituality. He enjoyed art, especially painting and photography,
as well as traveling to see new places. His favorite times, though, were
with his family.
Dave passed away in hospice care on December 1, 2023 after bravely
fighting pancreatic cancer. He is preceded in death by his son Michael
(d. 2021), and parents. He is survived by his wife Jenny, son Erik, and
older brother Thomas Eskestrand. Dave loved his family and friends and
will be greatly missed by them all.
